  • Stand near by the Gokyo lake and feel its tranquility

If you have the time and money to extend your Everest Base Camp Trek, do it! The scenery on the Gokyo portion of this package is unbelievable. It is a dream for many trekkers to hike the Everest Base Camp trail, but few even know about the glorious Gokyo Lakes trek or the astonishing view from Gokyo Ri. For many, the moment of reaching the base of the world’s highest mountain is the highlight. For those taking the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Trek, there is much more in store.

Our journey begins like most in the area, with a thrilling plane ride to Lukla – the gateway to the Khumbu region. Hike up through Sherpa villages until Namche Bazaar. Sherpas have lived in the Khumbu region for generations and are widely known for their capability of climbing at high altitudes. Find great joy in spending time with the locals and understanding their style of living, as they share their stories and hospitality with you.

Day after day of ascending through ever-changing landscapes takes us to Everest Base Camp (5,340 meters), where the infamous Khumbu Icefall is seen, along with a scattered village of tents – mountaineers preparing for their ascent to the mighty summit of Everest. The next highlight of the adventure comes soon after. The following day, we climbed to the top of Kala Patthar (5,545 meters). Here, you get what just might be the best view of Mount Everest. Savour the 360-degree panoramic view of the tallest peaks in the world: Nuptse, Lhotse, Everest, and more.

Still, there is more amazement to be had. Near Nepal’s largest glacier, Ngozumpa Glacier lies a small village called Gokyo village. This tiny settlement sits adjacent to five spellbinding emerald-green lakes. They are so stunning that they are deemed sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists. Either that night or the following morning, hike up to Gokyo Ri (5,360 meters) for yet another mind-boggling Himalayan view. Look down and out at lakes, glaciers, mountain peaks, and villages – mere specks from this height.

The Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Trek is a natural masterpiece. The landscape is surreal and trekkers feel as if they are living a dream while hiking through the grand scenery, characterized by expansive glaciers and colossal masses of rock and ice. Join us in this special adventure!

You can take the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Trek all throughout the year. For the best weather take the trip during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These seasons provide the best weather and clearest skies, not to mention that during the springtime, rhododendrons and other alpine flowers are in bloom. Third Eye Adventure Pvt. As our guide Rabin would say, we “super duper” recommend third eye! We trekked with Rabin for a month between the ABC and EBC + Gokyo and quickly became friends. His humor kept us going even when GI issues tried to keep us down. We could not recommend him more! On the administrative side Ganesh was a huge help and source of information, and always willing to help. Third eye took care of us throughout our month in Nepal and we would 100% recommend them to anyone coming to the country! We also trekked with Nitesh who was our porter during Annapurna but he also is a guide and is the bomb diggity! My soccer loving husband had a great time discussing the EPL with him during our time together.
