Swayambunath is another famous Buddhist site, and because of the journey to get there and its proximity to Thamel, it is perhaps the Kathmandu temple experience. It is one of the oldest sites in Kathmandu and offers a scenic skyline view of the city. A tour of Kathmandu would not be complete without a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The ancient kingdom is full of intricate stone and wood Newar-style architecture. If we are lucky, we can get a glimpse of theKumari, Nepal’s living and breathing goddess.
