Best Time for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Choosing the right season is key for the best experience. The autumn and spring months have the best weather for this trek.
- Autumn (September - November): This is the best time to go. The skies are clear, offering sharp, amazing views of the high peaks. The weather is stable and pleasant, perfect for trekking.
- Spring (March - May): This is the second-best time. The weather is warm, and the hills are alive with color. The famous rhododendron forests are in full bloom with red and pink flowers.
A Typical Day on Your Trek
- Morning: Your day starts around 6:30 AM with a hot drink. You will pack your main bag for the porter. Then, you have a good breakfast at the teahouse around 7:30 AM.
- Trekking: You start walking around 8:00 AM. Your guide will lead at a slow, steady pace that is right for you. You will walk for about 3 hours before lunch.
- Lunch: You will stop at a teahouse on the trail for a one-hour lunch break. This is a good time to rest, drink tea, and enjoy the views.
- Afternoon: You will walk for another 2-3 hours. The trail passes through forests and villages. You will usually reach the next teahouse by the afternoon.
- Evening: You can relax, read a book, or chat with other trekkers. Dinner is served around 7:00 PM in the warm dining hall. Your guide will brief you on the plan for the next day.

Trek Difficulty: Are You Ready?
This trek is rated as moderate. It is a great choice for people with good fitness who enjoy walking. The daily walking hours are between 5 to 7 hours. The main challenge is the sections with many stone staircases, especially around Chhomrong.
The trail does not go to extreme altitudes. The highest you will sleep is at Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m). You do not need any special climbing skills. If you enjoy hiking up and down hills, you can do this trek.
Food and Lodging on the Trek
- Teahouses: You will stay in local teahouses. These are simple lodges run by local families. They offer a warm bed and a dining area to eat and meet other trekkers. The rooms are usually basic with two beds.
- Meals: We provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day on the trail. The food is fresh, healthy, and gives you good energy. The most common meal is Dal Bhat, a Nepali dish of rice, lentil soup, and vegetables. Teahouses also serve pasta, noodles, potatoes, and eggs.
