Anyone who visits Nepal knows of the belovedΒ Annapurna region. One of the go-to treks in this area is theΒ Annapurna Base Camp Trek. There are two ways to get there: viaΒ GhorepaniΒ and viaΒ Ghandruk.

This package takes you through the streamlined route, throughΒ Ghandruk. Within about a week from leaving Pokhara, make it to the base of one of the world’s massive massifs,Β Annapurna IΒ (8,091 meters/26,545 feet).

The magical hike toΒ Annapurna Base Campstarts with a short drive from Pokhara. Before the trek begins, spend a day exploring the natural beauty that exists inΒ Pokhara. It’s a huge breath of fresh air from the dustiness and seemingly never-ending noise of Kathmandu.

The first bit of the trail leads through mixed, subtropical forests. In the springtime, the fiery red and pinkΒ rhododendronsΒ are a sight to behold. The trail climbs higher, above the tree line to the rocky alpine landscape, emblematic of the Annapurna region.

Soon enough, afterΒ Machhapuchhre Base Camp, we reachΒ Annapurna Base Camp. Here, we are enveloped byΒ Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Barahi Shikhar, Annapurna I, Tharpu Chuli, Gangapurna, Annapurna IIIΒ andΒ Machhapuchhre.Β The Himalayan panorama is breath-taking!

In addition to reachingΒ Annapurna Base Camp, staying inΒ GhandrukΒ for a couple of nights is a notable time during our journey.Β GhandrukΒ is the second largest Gurung settlement in Nepal (after Siklis).

Enclosed by beautiful terraced agriculture fields, Ghandruk (at about 1,940 meters) is open to incredible views of the Himalayas. Become entranced by the sight ofΒ Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South,Β and a few other rugged mountaintops.

Wander around the twisting stone roads and narrow alleyways of Ghandruk. There are plenty of nice guest houses and good restaurants in the village, and we’ll show you the best of the best.

There are two Gurung museums in the village, both worth a visit. First, is the Gurung Traditional Museum, which boasts a shield make from elephant skin along with many other treasures. Also, spend some time perusing the Old Gurung Museum.

To conclude our trek, we head down through Jhinu Danda, a hot spring that lies about 15 minutes from the downhill from the main village. It’s a perfect end to the trek and a pleasant relaxation time for the body and mind.

My first ABC trip was introduced by a friend because of the good service of this company and I was satisfied with the service. After choosing this company for the second EBC trip, I realized that it is a responsible and credible mountaineering company.

As two adventurous girls with limited time, we tackled the Annapurna Base Camp trek in just 5 days with Third Eye Adventure. Thanks to a well-crafted itinerary and our experienced guide, Ramji, we had an amazing journey. He saved my life several times carefully guided me through the dangerous slope as I injured my knee, patience and good in organizing the time, accommodations to ensure we girls are always safe and filled with enough food to have energy to continue on the trek! An incredible Himalayan trekking dream come true experience!

I was merely a follower in a friend’s planned hike to Annapurna Base Camp, so I cannot comment on the logistics when planning with Third Eye, however from their personal accounts, everything went smoothly.

On the hiking side of things, (from Nayapul, up to Annapurna Base Camp and back down) I highly recommend my guide and friend, Ramji. Him and the other 3 porters (each group gets 1 porter per every 2 hikers), were very friendly, answered all of our questions and safely guided us throughout the entire hike. The views all along the hike were spectacular as long as it does not rain. Overall though, I again highly recommend going with Third Eye, and many thanks to them for this unforgettable journey!
