Permits Required in Annapurna Region

The Annapurna Region of Nepal is among the most popular trekking areas in the world, with its stunning mountain scenery and its unique culture of its many ethnic groups.ย

However, before we embark on our trek, it is necessary to obtain two permits before trekking in the Annapurna region: the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) and the Trekkersโ€™ Information Management System (TIMS). These permits are intended to help manage trekking and tourism in the area, and to ensure that the environment is preserved.

The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) is a permit that can be obtained from the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu, or from the National Park office at the entry point of the Annapurna region. The permit is a way to support the local communities and the environment in the region while contributing to the conservation and sustainable development of the region. It costs around $25 USD per person.

Besides the ACAP permit, trekkers will also need a Trekkersโ€™ Information Management System (TIMS) card, which costs $15 from the Nepal Tourism Board. The TIMS card is used to track the movement of trekkers in the Annapurna Region and is also important to help prevent trekkers from entering the area without a permit.

The Annapurna Region is an incredible place to explore and the permits that are required for trekking in the region are an important part of the process. By understanding the requirements and obtaining both the ACAP and TIMS cards, trekkers can ensure that they are able to enjoy their trek without any problems.
