Is trekking for me?

We believe that there is a trek out there suitable for everyone and anyone! Whether you are looking for a one-day hike or a multiple-day adventure, there is sure to be a package suitable for you.

Why is a guide necessary? I’ve trekked/hiked/camped before – can’t I guide myself?

You are right, a guide is not necessary. However, it is quite easy to get lost along many of the trails in the Himalayas and every so often, a trekker does go missing. There are other perks to having a guide, such as knowing the best teahouses/guesthouses, being able to point out certain peaks, and knowing the history and culture of the area. For a safer and more meaningful trek, a guide is a must.

Who can go?

Anyone! There are many trekking destinations in Nepal, both at higher and lower altitudes. Alpine trekking requires acclimatization and physical fitness. For those who wish not to trek at higher altitudes, you can enjoy lower altitude trips. Trekking in Nepal is for all ages.

How difficult is trekking?

Each trek varies in difficulty. Generally, high-altitude trekking is difficult and it decreases the lower altitude, though this is not always the case. Ask us for more information about trekking difficulty.

Is previous trekking experience necessary?

Previous trekking experience is not necessary. But trekking higher requires acclimatization and some technical peak climbs necessitate previous experience.

What type of insurance should I have? Where can I obtain a policy?

Travel insurance is necessary in case of an emergency. In extreme scenarios, helicopter rescue is the only solution for rescue. In this case, the cost is very expensive without insurance. You should confirm with your insurance companies the details of its coverage.

What’s the best time of year to book a trek in Nepal?

The walking distance ranges from 5-15 kilometers depending upon the altitude and difficulty of the trail.

ROOM AND BOARD

What kinds of accommodations will we utilize?

Most trekking routes have teahouse/guesthouse facilities. Some trails do not, and in those instances, we will camp outside.

Where will our drinking water come from?

Along most of the trekking trails, mineral water can be bought. Another way to obtain drinking water is using purifying tab or liquids. Boiled water is supplied during the camping trek.

Where do we eat our meals?

In the mountainous regions, there are lodges that offer meals and accommodation services. Local dish with a continental menu is available. Dal Bhat is the standard of Nepal, which is rice with curry and pickles.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

What physical criteria will ensure I’m fit enough to trek?
If you have chronic health issues or are not confident in your health, it may be difficult to go high-altitude trekking. But for the easy treks, you can go. You should check with your doctor if you have any pre-existing health conditions.

How will we deal with altitude acclimation?

Walking at a high altitude is tough due to the low level of oxygen. In serious cases, the altitude can cause huge problems. To battle this, we offer rest and acclimatizing days and do not offer a long walking day unless it is mandatory. This increases your level of safety at a high altitude and avoids acute mountain sickness.

What do I need to know about sun protection?

In the high alpine areas, the mix of cold levels and sunrays can hurt your skin and eyes. It is highly suggested to use sun block cream (sunscreen) for your skin and UV ray protection sunglasses.

What happens if I get sick or injured while trekking?

We are aware of this possibility. We are prepared for all emergency situations. All guides carry first aid in case anything happens and we do everything we can to prevent harmful situations. In case of injuries, it depends on the level of emergency. You have the option of helicopter rescue as the ultimate form of evacuation, for which you need to have travel insurance.

Are solo female travelers safe on Himalayan treks?

We can not speak on behalf of completely solo (without a guide) travelers on the trails. With us, though, female travelers are safe.

PRACTICAL MATTERS

What happens if the flight from Lukla or Kathmandu is delayed?

Flight cancellation in Lukla depends on the weather condition. In case the flight gets canceled, it can be postponed for the following day. You need to have extra days for this. It is highly recommended to book your international flights with a several-day cushion period as to avoid having to cancel or change international flights. If flights to and from Lukla are canceled, it is possible to take a helicopter for an additional cost. If you wait for the next day’s flight, you need to cover the food and accommodation for the extra day out of our itinerary.

What should I pack?

It depends where you are trekking. If you trek to a lower altitude, you need less equipment with less warm materials. But, to trek at a high altitude, you should bring enough warmer equipment. You can see it in our equipment list.

What sort of footwear is recommended?

Comfortable hiking boots with thick soles are recommended. You should bring wool socks for the highest comfort. Slippers are comfortable to use in the lodge.

How much can a porter carry?

Porters can generally carry 15-20 kg baggage on the trail, though it can vary depending on the altitude.

Should I tip my guide? How about my porter?

Tips to guide and porters are not mandatory but are expected. Frankly, tips are helpful for the livelihood of guides and porters.

How much money should I bring along?

We organize fully inclusive treks. But you must bring some extra money to buy drinks and/or snacks along the trail. If you plan to tip the guide and porter, or if you would like to bring souvenirs for your friends or family, money is necessary.

What communication options exist while trekking?

Due to the rapid development in communication, telephone and WiFi services are available in many parts of Nepal. You can also use the internet by mobile data and some guest houses (not all) are equipped with WiFi, sometimes for an additional cost.

Can I get a refund if I don’t finish the trek?

In this case, we are not able to offer refunds. Sometimes, trekkers finish the trek early than intended or can’t complete it due to their personal causes. Unfortunately, we cannot compensate for money not spent during the trek.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Insurance is required for the treks, by which your helicopter evacuation and medication expenses can be done in case of emergency.

CANCELLATION POLICIES

In case you have to cancel your trip before it takes place, we refund your paid amount deducting the cancellation charge by 20%.
