Detail Itinerary

Day 01:  Kathmandu to Paro – Thimphu (By Car, Approx. 1.5 Hrs), Sightseeing Thimphu

Today you will be taken by car to the Kathmandu airport. If the weather is clear, you will have wonderful views of the Himalayas.  It’s a breathtaking journey, culminating in an exciting descent past forested hills into the kingdom of Bhutan.  Upon arrival, be greeted by your local guide and escorted to the capital Thimphu, passing by Tamchog Lhakang Iron Bridge en route. Hotel check-in, then head for the Thimphu Dzong (Trashichho Dzong), the largest religious building in Thimphu as well as the central administrative centre (open after 5 pm, Monday to Friday).

Day 02:  Thimphu sightseeing- Punakha.

After breakfast we go sightseeing around Thimphu.  We make a visit to the mini zoo: Here you can see just one animal Bhutan`s national – the Takin. This is an extremely rare member of the goat family.  Next we head to Buddha Point to see a giant golden statue of Buddha, the viewpoint is also the perfect place to take in some truly breathtaking views of the entire city of Thimphu, visit National Memorial Chorten and visit Changangkha Lhakhang. After lunch drive to Puankha, the drive takes you over a pass through Dochula (3140m, 10362ft) from where a beautiful panoramic view ofthe Himalayan mountain range can be seen, especially in clear winter days. Overnight at Punakha.

Day 03:  Punakha sightseeing – Paro (By car, 3 hrs).

After breakfast visit Punakha Dzong, the Dzong straddles the confluence of two rivers and resembles a giant battleship. Its full name is “Punthang Dechen phodrang” or “Palace of Great happiness”.  Next make a quick visit to the 2nd longest suspension bridge in the world.  After we head to the temple Chimi Lhakhang, it takes around 20-30mins walks from the road head, through cultivated fields and up a gentle slope. This Temple was built by lam Drukpa Kuenley (The Divine Madman) in 1499. Evening drive to Paro.

Day 04:  Paro Hiking – Tigers Nest Monastery

This morning we hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger`s nest): This is Bhutan`s most recognizable cultural icon perched 800m/2640ft up a seemingly sheer cliff. Although it was tragically and mysteriously consumed by firein April 1998 it has now been restored to its former glory.  Especially from the other side of the river very nice pictures can be taken of the majestic Paro Dzong with Ta Dzong at the background. Evening walk around Paro. Overnight at Paro

Day 05:  Paro to Kathmandu

After breakfast it’s time to say goodbye to the land of the Thunder Dragon.  You will be escorted to the airport where you will fly back to Kathmandu.  Upon arrival you will be warmly welcomed back to Nepal and taken to your hotel.  The remaining day is free.  Rest or let us recommend some hidden sights around Kathmandu.

Pricing Per Person

Bhutanese government sets a daily fee of $250 per person for entering the country.  This price covers the cost of your tour including Guide, Driver, Food, Transport, Accommodation and entrance fees.  $60 of your daily rate goes to the government and pays for roads, health, education etc. The more people joining your trip the cheaper it becomes, so why not grab a few friends and bring them along.
