Frequently Asked Questions.

When is the best time to climb the Himlung Himals?

Faq icon toggle

Himlung Himal is located in the Manaslu region northeast of the Annapurna region, in one of the remote corners of the Nepal and Tibet border. So the ideal time to climb the expeditions is during the month of the spring(March/April/May) and the autumn(Sep/Oct/Nov) seasons.

Being in the remote part of Nepal only a few climbers only head for this expedition. During the expedition, you will not find the traffic or many other climbing teams.

Do I need previous climbing experience for this expedition?

Faq icon toggle

This expedition takes you to a massive altitude of above 7000m, therefore it is necessary to have previous climbing experience.

If you don’t have previous climbing experience but high-altitude climbing experience with basic mountaineering skills then definitely you can do this expedition. We suggest you prepare 4-5 months in advance so that your expedition will be easier, smoother, and successful.

How difficult is the Himlung Expedition?

Faq icon toggle

Himlung Expedition is graded as a very strenuous climbing peak. Climbers need to have previous high-altitude climbing experience along with basic mountaineering skills. You will be spending more than three weeks in the mountain region in a tea house and tent.

The extremely cold temperature, the chances of altitude sickness and being in the remote part of the Himlung Expedition are not as easy as you think. You need to plan well and trek through the registered trekking agency in Nepal. Before booking the expedition, you need to have the proper physical and mental fitness. Understand well about the Himlung expedition by doing the proper research and then plan accordingly.

Do I need Insurance for this expedition?

Faq icon toggle

Climbing at the extreme altitude of a mountain, which sits at 7126m, poses several types of risk factors. Climbers need to deal with several risk factors such as altitude sickness, avalanches, extreme weather conditions, technical difficulty, equipment failure, and acclimatization issues.

So to deal with the various risk factors, you must have travel insurance that can provide coverage for medical emergencies, evacuation expenses, trip cancellation, lost or stolen gear, and other unforeseen circumstances.

Remember that you cannot do travel insurance here in Nepal. You need to have done your travel insurance in your home country. Choose wisely your insurance policy and read all the policy details carefully so that it will meet your expectations.

What are the documents required for the expedition?

Faq icon toggle

Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months after your trip completion.

  • Carry at least four copies of passport-size photos for permits and official formalities during your journey.
  • Ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance coverage. Refer to the general information page for specific details on coverage and policy requirements.
  • Confirm and carry all flight tickets relevant to your journey, including any connecting flights or return tickets.
  • Bring credit cards or other forms of payment for emergencies or unexpected expenses during your trip.
  • Keep a copy of your driving license or any other identification document as a backup in case of passport loss or emergencies requiring identification.

Do we need to hire a guide and a porter?

Faq icon toggle

Yes, it is highly recommended to have an experienced guide and a porter for this expedition. Due to the involvement of semi-technical aspects and challenging terrain, the Guide and the porter will accompany you during the whole expedition.

Our trekking agency will help provide an experienced guide who has a license from the government of Nepal. One porter will carry the stuff of two trekkers and the cost of the guide and porter will be included in the package. We suggest you give some tips for the Guide and the porter even though it is not compulsory.

What about food and accommodation?

Faq icon toggle

After you land in Kathmandu you will be staying in a 2-3 star hotel. The cost of staying in the hotel will be included in the package, however, you need to pay the cost of lunch and dinner.

While staying in the tea house the cost of the stay and food is included in the package. You will be given three times meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

While staying in the tent our professional cook will make the food for you which will be basic but delicious. If you have any special dietary requirements then make sure to inform us so that we will try to manage it.

Third Eye Adventure  provided incredible service thanks to the team with great management and communication from Ganesh.
Our guide Rabin was incredibly attentive, supportive and professional. He consistently went above and beyond, and I could not commend him more highly. His knowledge of the area is extensive and his hospitality is considerate and thorough. He was willing to change plans and provide options to make us more more comfortable if needed, and always did his best to provide us with the best accommodation and rooms.
