Rara Lake Costs & Permits For US Citizens

Getting to Rara Lake requires a permit, which can be obtained from the national park checkpoint. You can also get the permit from Kathmandu before your departure. The fee depends on your nationality. Non-SAARC countries like the United States, and the United Kingdom, pay USD 30 plus 13 % government tax, bringing the total to USD $34. SAARC members pay a lower fee and Nepalese citizens do not need permits.

Once you have your permit, you’re ready to explore Rara Lake. You can enjoy a variety of activities here, including boating, fishing, and swimming. The scenery of the lake is simply breathtaking, with calm, clear waters surrounded by snow-capped mountains, lush green meadows, and thick forests.
