Kathmandu is a city that is infinitely full of surprises. There is never a dull moment in this always-stimulating city. Everywhere you turn there is another courtyard or shrine or, it seems, an UNESCO World Heritage site.
During our Kathmandu Valley Tour, we will take you to the best of the best. From the medieval Newari kingdoms to the iconic Swayambunath stupa to the mysterious cremation groups at Pashupatinath, this tour covers it all. You cannot miss out on a tour of the valley to give you the definitive Kathmandu experience!
The tour begins in Patan, the first of the old Kathmandu Valley kingdoms. Patan is a perfect place to see the harmonious coexistence of Buddhism and Hinduism. Many of the temples celebrate both religions in such a beautiful way. The narrow alleyways sprouting from the boundaries of the square are exciting to explore. All three durbar squares in Kathmandu are well worth a visit, as they represent the best of Nepal’s art and architecture.
Next is the second of the ancient Newar palaces: Bhaktapur. Temples of different sizes and shapes fill the square. It is much quieter than Kathmandu’s and even Patan’s Durbar Squares, giving a sense of serenity to the experience. Stroll around and see men and women making handmade pots, clothes, and other handicrafts.
Head up to Changu Narayan Temple, yet another heritage site with its own rich history. Scattered around the courtyard are not only temples, but a bunch of mythical beast-like creatures guarding the shrines. Higher up is Nagarkot, offering what the best mountain viewpoint in the valley.
Watch the sunrise before sleeping in the nice hilltop hotel. Wake up early for the sunrise to get another perspective of the beautiful colors shining upon the mountain peaks, including Mount Everest and Dhaulagiri!
