Few people know about the newly developed Mardi Himal Trek in the eastern part of the Annapurnan region. Far from the groups of tourists that flock to the Annapurna Base Camp or Annapurna Circuit trails, the Mardi Himal is a hidden gem. A couple days of hiking through beautiful foothills leads to a rocky, rugged opening with stunning mountain views.
The Mardi Himal Trek is a short and moderately easy trail. Because there are so few tourists on the path, trekkers gain a greater understanding and appreciation for village life in the hills. They also develop a deeper appreciation for the nature in and around the villages. It feels as though you are truly in a mountain wilderness area. The seemingly untouched territory is keeps the attention of locals and visitors alike.
Our Mardi Himal Trek starts in Kande after a pleasant drive from Pokhara. The previous day of exploring is splendid. The lakeside city has plenty to offer and if nothing else, a walk along the shore of the lake is refreshing.
As soon as you arrive in Kande, the beauty is witnessed. Hike through subtropical forests. Watching the sunrays through the moss-covered oak and rhododendron trees is a spectacle! The color change during springtime adds another level of beauty to the trail. Many moments on the trail are defined by the sound of the wind and your own footsteps. Feel a sense of inner peace realizing the simple beauty of trekking.
Climb higher through the dense forest until the trees clear up and the path leads to an opening. This is the pinnacle of the trek! Upper viewpoint (4,500 meters) displays jaw-dropping views of Mardi Himal (5,587m), as well as Macchapucchre (6993m), Hiunchuli (6,441m), BarahaShikhar (7,647m), SinguChuli (6,501m),Annapurna I (8,090m), and Annapurna South (7,219m). Nothing lies between you and these perceivably sacred peaks.
One awesome thing about the Mardi Himal Trek is that it is a loop trail, meaning that we take a different route down. Each day is new and exciting while on this trek and there is always marvelous scenery along the trail. Besides that, the locals will show you warm hospitality. After arriving to Lumre, we drive back to Pokhara and return to Kathmandu. Join us on the glorious Mardi Himal Trek – full of mountain views, lush forests, and kind people.
You can take the Mardi Himal Trek all throughout the year. The best times to make the trip, though, are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These seasons provide the best weather and clearest skies, not to mention that during the springtime, rhododendron and other alpine flowers are in bloom. Third Eye Adventure Pvt. Ltd. handles the trek with complete management. If you have any questions about the trek, do ask!
